Barbara Stone Obituary

STONE, Barbara Hurt, age 81, of Glen Allen, Virginia passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Dorothy Arnall Hurt and William Marvin Hurt Sr. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Marvin Hurt Jr.

She was born in Richmond Virginia and attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Braxton Business School. She worked many years in the real-estate business with Louise Williams Realty and Napier Realtors. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed spending time on the Piankatank River, boating with her kids and grandkids and great grandkids. She also enjoyed playing cards with her card group friends, and spending time at the Shack. Barbara enjoyed going out to dinner and enjoying a glass of wine.

Barbara leaves behind her husband of 47 years Louis W. Stone. Sister, Sandra L. Hurt; Sons, Bruce G. Sylvia Jr. (Susan), Jeffrey H. Sylvia, Matthew R. Sylvia (Stacey); Daughter, Karen S. Haeseker (Tom). Grandchildren, Andrew B. Jernigan, Gregory B. Jernigan, Rebecca (Becky) P. Haeseker, Joshua (Josh) T. Haeseker, Ashley R. Hernandez, Madison A. Sylvia, Jackson B. Sylvia, Matthew R. Sylvia Jr., Anna-Hensley L. Sylvia, Kate M. Sylvia, Jazmyn Jenkins. Great Grandchildren, Owen J. Jernigan, Olivia (Sissy) P. Jernigan.

A visitation will be held at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service for Barbara will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home-Parham, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 2 p.m to 2:30 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23238. Following the burial the family will receive friends at the Hermitage Country Club for a reception 1248 Hermitage Road, Manakin Sabot, VA 23103.
