Donald Quarles, Sr. Obituary

Donald James Quarles, Sr., AKA “Quack” 63, of Brooklyn, MD. Donald was born on August, 4, 1961 and passed away on August 9, 2024, after fighting aggressive lung cancer for the last 14 months. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Quarles, Sr. and Nancy (Eichelberger) Quarles; his brothers Norman Quarles Jr., Richard Quarles Sr. and wife, Fran (Marahan) Quarles, William Quarles, Sr., William Nauton and Mark Woodward; his nephew, Matthew Griffin and his grandson, Cameron Hampshire.

Donald is survived by his wife, Donna Lee (Dupski) Quarles; his children, Melissa Quarles and her children, River and Elizabeth; Donald Quarles, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Haley Doughty, and their children, Aubrie and Makena; Brandy (Quarles) May and her husband, Devon May, and their children, Aiden, Adrianna, Kai, Bryson, Jazlyn, Samara and Ember; his adopted son, Kenneth Alston; his siblings, Cynthia (Quarles) Griffin, Thomas Quarles, Diane (Quarles) Potter and her husband, David Potter, James Phillip and Frederick Nauton and his wife, Shelly (Fears) Nauton; his sister-in-laws, Jacquelyn Nauton and Trisha Woodward.

Donald’s accomplishments included being a school bus driver, Baltimore City substitute teacher, a night audit supervisor, and accounts receivable manager of numerous hotels. He also served honorably as a US Army veteran. Donald was a fun-loving one-liner jokester to the very end. He was well known for playing Santa. One of his greatest joys was taking the time to be Pop Pop to his 12 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and visitors before the viewing at 7689 Briar Lane, Pasadena, MD 21122 on Wednesday, August 14th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 pm followed by the viewing at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Wednesday, August 14th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 14th at 7 PM in the funeral home chapel. His wishes were to be cremated.

The Family requests casual dress, please.

I lost my little brother Donald. I wish that wasn't the case, but I know you are doing better now. You are not in anymore pain, you are not having trouble breathing anymore, you are not shaking and breaking your cigarettes and spilling your coffee anymore. When you see Matthew can you give him a kiss for me. I love you so very much Donald. Your loving sister Cindy
