Gregory Correia Obituary

Gregory Maurice Correia
April 7, 1964 - January 8, 2024
Vista, CA

Greg Correia, 59, of San Diego, passed away on January 8, 2024, in Vista, CA. He was born and raised in San Diego and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Greg had a kind and generous heart, always putting his family above all else. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Greg attended Grossmont High School before furthering his education at UCSD. He had a successful career as a computer programmer for most of his adult life.

Outside of work, Greg had a passion for music and sports. He was a diehard Padres and Chargers fan all his life. He also was an avid fan of the Rolling Stones, not missing a tour in 45 years, and was looking forward to the upcoming concert in LA with his best friend Tom. Greg's love for music and playing the guitar and piano was just one of the ways he found joy in life.

Greg's family meant the world to him. In 2002, Greg married Ana and was blessed with her two daughters, Yesica and Anaisa. In 2003 they welcomed their daughter Tatianna. Greg loved celebrating all milestones in his family's lives, whether it be soccer games, graduations, birthdays or baby showers.

Greg is survived by his wife Ana, stepdaughters Yesica, Anaisa (Dylan), grandchildren, his father Maurice (Eilene), sisters Simone Holmes and Celette Grady (Jim), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death at the age of 17 by his mother, Shirley "Mickey" Correia.

Greg's memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he left us too soon, Greg's spirit will live on in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed at every holiday and family occasion.

A funeral service will be held on February 2, 2024 at 10:00 am, St Mary Catholic Church, 1170 S Broadway, Escondido, CA. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Columbus Hall, located at 515 West Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA.

I am ( JJ ) Greg's daughter. There isn't a day that doesn't go by where I don't think of you. I stubbled upon this while carrying my newborn in my arms.I might of not been the most easiest child to deal with but I am writing this to you hoping it can reach heaven and everyone else who stubbles upon this site. Dad Im sorry I never said I love you enough but I hope you knew/know that I love you so much and you are one of the reasons I am who I am now. Thank you for being the dad, I never truly had. I know you loved all your grandchildren but you had a bond with Isaiah like never before. You were such an amazing grandpa to Isaiah & Ari. they love/miss you so much. I had my little girl this year and I like to hope you sent her to me from heaven. I will make sure she knows how much of an amazing grandpa , person and dad you were. I find peace in knowing you're with your mama and watching over all of us. We finally have our guardian angel watching over us.
Thank You.
I love you.

I remember Greg as kid, mostly. Growing up in Del Mar, your Mom would come up to visit my Mom and bring all of you. Greg was always quiet but went exploring with us everywhere! When he was a teenager, after your Mom passed away, I remember him being into his music, especially the Rolling Stones. He knew every lyric which was crazy because we didn't have the Internet to tell us what they were! I don't know how he understood what was being sung! Oh, Greg. Now, I've met two of his beautiful daughters and I'm proud of the Dad he was to them. They are so kind and thoughtful. Greg, you were taken far too soon and you will be so greatly missed. I know you are with your mother in Heaven and we will see you there one day.
