Deirdre Page Gillette (May 19, 1940 November 16, 2023)Deirdre (Dee Dee) Page Gillette, age 83, died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at home in Newport Beach, California. A longtime resident of Newport Beach, Deirdre was an ardent boater and loved spending time on Balboa Bay. She was born on May 19, 1940, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Dr. Griffith Page and Mary Thomas Page. Deirdre was one of four siblings, the others being Seaver, David, and Heather. Deirdre graduated from California High School in Whittier, in 1958. She attended Pomona College in Claremont, and University in Perugia, Italy. Deirdre married George Gillette, an attorney and stride-style piano player, in 1966. They were married for 44 years until his death in 2010. Together, they enjoyed travelling all over the world but particularly to their condos in Mammoth and Maui. They loved boating together and belonged to the American Legion situated on Balboa Bay. Deirdre is survived by her brother David of San Francisco, and sister Heather of Mill Valley. Another brother, Seaver of Sausalito and Healdsburg passed in 2021. She was beloved stepmother to Steve Gillette of North Bennington, Vermont, Karen Henson of Concord, California, Darcy Reinier of Guerneville, California, and Jeff Gillette, who passed away in 1999. Their children knew her as "Grandma Dee Dee" and loved to visit her at her beach home. Deirdre is also survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, and their children. Deirdre was an avid reader, had a quick wit, lively sense of humor, and a mad passion for crossword puzzles. A memorial will be held at the Newport Shores Clubhouse, 511 Canal Street, Newport Beach, California on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 1 3 PM.
