The world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Maria Anita Alvarado, affectionately known as Mary, Mari Mar, Marie and Momma, passed away on August 14, 2024. Maria persevered kidney failure for many years, many trips in and out of the hospital. Maria passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

She graduated from Wiggins High School in 1976 and soon after in 1977 she was swept off her feet by a handsome Marine, Adolph "Tim" Alvarado the love of her life, who dedicated the last years of her life being her caregiver.
Caring for others came at a young age, being the oldest sibling Maria often took on the role as a Mother Hen. The love of mentoring, caring and nurturing people led her to many careers, including teaching ESL and being a CNA where she received numerous awards for outstanding patient care but her most rewarding job was being a Mom and Grandma. Her compassionate nature made it easy for anyone and everyone to call her when they needed help or just someone to talk to.
Maria's love extended to her 3 children Gabe, Elesa and Charles. Her son in laws Josh and Shane. Her 3 grandchildren, Hunter, Gunner, Gracelynn and her granddog Buddy. She was also a second mom to the many friends of her children. Maria had many nieces and nephews that she loved and adored with her whole heart, often times she would refer to them as her little snow chickens.
Maria loved to work in the garden, she was a champion Loteria player, master of crossword puzzles and Chef de Cuisine. You would always find her in the kitchen, cooking, singing and dancing. Maria was known to throw the best monster mashes for Halloween. Her outrageous costumes, sasquatch feet meatloaf and skull mashed potatoes were always the highlight of the night.
She graced many with her kindness, beauty, patience and loving heart, Maria Anita Alvarado will be profoundly missed but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
