Just before the noon-day sun reached its zenith on Sunday March 22, 2026 Leslie Clifford Buchanan, Jr. of Memphis, TN broke loose from his mortal bonds and joined his lifelong friend and eternal savior--Jesus Christ, in Paradise. Les surrendered himself to the ministry of Christ at the age of seventeen and spent the remaining of his 53 years on this earth interpreting and emulating the teachings of Christ. He was a loving son and brother, a faithful husband and a kind father, a theologian, a counselor, a friend and confidante to many; but whether you knew him as: Les, Buck, "Brother Les", "Pastor Buck" or some other moniker--to have known him was to have known a kindness and patience that seemed at times super-human.

Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and a Graduate of Mid-South Bible College; Les carried his ministry across the region serving in churches from the banks of the muddy Mississippi to the foothills of Appalachia and many-many places in between. Les raised three sons and a grandson, all of whom he enjoyed bragging about when given any opportunity to do so. In his "spare time" he built a successful career with Waste Management, which provided a living for his family and from which he was able to retire from in 2015 and re-devote his life full-time to ministry. Les possessed a rare ability to see the value in every soul, offering a listening ear and a steady hand to anyone in need.

Please join family and friends to celebrate the Homegoing of the Rev. L. C. Buchanan, Jr. a.k.a "Brother Les" on Saturday, April 11th at 12:00 p.m. noon at New Prospect Baptist Church, 823 MS-334, Oxford, Mississippi. A graveside will follow at Kingdom Cemetery (88-90 CR 443 Oxford MS, 38655).
