Janet Amy Obituary

Janet W. Amy, a devoted mother and grandmother of five, passed away
peacefully on May 23, 2025 at the age of 87. A life-long resident of
Poughkeepsie, NY, Janet graduated from Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, NY.
She was a friend to many, including those she met and assisted while
working in the checking department at Poughkeepsie Savings Bank. Janet was a
hard worker, ultimately retiring from TD Bank in 2014 as a teller and a familiar
face to customers at the Hyde Park branch.
Janet had a quick wit, loved to laugh at a good joke and play card games. She
enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home, where she would especially
shower her grandchildren with love and kindness, for they were her greatest
source of pride. She also cherished spending time on Long Beach Island, NJ.
She took her two daughters, Janet and Beth, there every summer and later she
enjoyed that same beach with her five grandchildren.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Jennie Clare (Barton) Walsh, of
Poughkeepsie. She is predeceased by her parents and her two younger sisters
Carol Walsh of Millbrook, NY and Joyce Sersching of Livingston, NY.
She is survived by her daughters and their families; Beth and Mark Kvasnak, and
their sons Cole and Luke of Oxford, CT and Janet and Carmine Mele, and their
daughters Jennie Clare, Rebecca and Amanda of Gardiner, NY.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371
Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025
from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de
Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd, Poughkeepsie, at 9:30 AM Saturday, May
31, 2025. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery immediately following.

to The American Cancer Society or to Hudson Valley Hospice.
