Eulalia Ruth Williams Jones, age 85, of
McMinnville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
Born in
Jonesboro, Arkansas, and raised in Toone, Tennessee, Eulalia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McMinnville. Her love for music emerged early. Taught first by her mother-an accomplished music teacher-she quickly became known for her natural talent, playing piano for her home church as a young girl. Music would remain the defining thread of her life.
Eulalia graduated from Central High School in Bolivar, Tennessee, where she played French horn in the school band, and later attended Memphis State University. While living in Birmingham, Alabama, she continued her studies in music education at Samford University. Her professional career began in the Rosedale School System in Rosedale, Mississippi, where she directed the music program for all grade levels.
A gifted teacher, Eulalia shaped generations of young musicians. As a longtime piano and vocal instructor, she nurtured the gifts of countless students, many of whom continued their musical journeys through local performances or studies at prestigious music schools. Her encouragement, patience, and dedication instilled a lifelong love of music in those she taught.
Her own musical contributions were equally rich. She performed widely, including portraying Mama Lucia in the musical opera Mama Lucia while living in Cookeville. Over the years, she served as pianist and organist for numerous churches, most recently retiring as organist for St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in McMinnville.
During her time in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Eulalia founded The Good News Choir, a vibrant community youth choir of more than 50 middle and high school students. Under her leadership, the choir performed major choral works such as Celebrate Life and Backpackers Suite at churches and festivals throughout the region. She also served as organist at First United Methodist Church (Lawrenceburg and McMinnville) and pianist for First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. She was an active member of the A Tempo Adult Musical Group in Lawrenceburg.
Beyond her musical gifts, Eulalia was deeply committed to her community and church. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Ben Lomond Garden Club of McMinnville. She also oversaw the specimen and cut flower exhibits at the Annual Warren County Fair, bringing her eye for beauty and detail to another beloved local tradition.
Above all, Eulalia cherished her family. She poured her love, encouragement, and wonderful cooking into her family and friends, celebrating every milestone and special occasion. Her home was filled with music, laughter, and unwavering support-a gathering place where she delighted in watching the next generations grow. Her family was her greatest joy, and she carried immense pride in each of them.
Eulalia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Levon Jones; her son, Daryl Thomas Jones, and his wife, Camala (Spartanburg, SC); daughters in law Tamala Jones (
Georgetown, TX) and Sharon Jones (
Murfreesboro, TN); grandchildren Meghan, Mikaela, Matthew, Connor, Madison, Patrick, and Sarah; great grandson Solomon, with another precious great grandchild expected in April. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph (Joe) Robert Williams, and his wife, Melinda (
Ada, OK), as well as cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Clarence Williams, Sr. and Ruth Gladys Pine Williams; her brother, Walter Clarence Williams, Jr.; and her sons, Kevin Anthony Jones and Christopher Brian Jones.
