Obituary published on Legacy.com by Healey Mortuary and Crematory on Mar. 23, 2026.
The whole family is heartbroken from the passing of beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Erlinda Nino Yasay, born on January 21, 1942, 84 years old. Surrounded by family, she left to be with the Lord on February 21, 2026. The family called her Nanay, a woman with many gifted talents and virtues. She is survived by 9 children, Petrolinda (Domingo Ramos), Ofelia (Agustin Aburto), Franklin (Elsa), Marybel (Randy Perez), Merna (Frank Yu), Mary-An (Ruben Patoc), Jay-R (Premy Helen), Regie (Carlo Jacob) and Hazen (Christina). She was blessed with 21 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren, Stephanie (Blayne Calizo) + Caleb, Josslyn, Kiera & Riley, Rex (Jamiely) + Malakai, Mary Rose (Jordan Gomez) + Jrue, Jada & J'nea, Darren , Marvin (Perri) + Zyla, BJ (Vanessa) + Kane, Teresa + Brayden, Kyrie & Kamryn, Rhaissel (Josh Valenzuela) + Aria, Gianna, Natalia & Kobe, Randell, Ethan, Ashley, RJ, Andrae, Annika, Jaden, JJ (Devin), Angelo, CJ & Jherome, Nezah & Nayah. She is deeply loved, cherished and treasured by the family, her many friends and relatives.

Nanay was born on January 21, 1942 in the province of Ilocos Norte, Sta Rita, Paoay, Philippines. A devoted sister to Rufina Nino Sado (Jose Sado) and Alfredo Ragual Nino (Gloria Tabuli Nino) and a loving daughter to Adriano Agliam Nino and Maria Baguindoc Ragual. Friends and relatives at her hometown called her Erling and mostly Linda here in the United States.

Life in the Philippines is very challenging, full of patience and sacrifices but her parents worked very hard to make both ends meet and they were able to send them to school even though she and her sister didn't get enough monetary support to go to High School. Her brother was the only one but up to 3rd year High School and then he stopped and decided to help the parents work on the farm then go abroad for a little while and go back home when his father was really sick & over father's job as a farmer.

As a teenager, Nanay wanted to do something else besides farming. She enrolled in a local vocational school, The Malayan Vocational School in Batac, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She pursued Dressmaking and Hairstyling and for a short period of time, she finished both and received her achieving diplomas.

Living with her parents, Nanay got married at a young age to Tatay Petronio Yasay Sr. and they decided to go on their own and were blessed to have 9 children; well supported and educated through their hard work and dedication. Years passed by and the oldest daughter Petrolinda (Perling) brought her with Tatay to the United States and started a new way of living.

Nanay was a devoted mother and expert homemaker. She was a woman of many developed skills, a master tailor / dressmaker, a gifted cook / baker, and a caring hairdresser/ hairstylist. She lived her life with a giving heart, always ready to lend a hand and share her talents. She cherished her family above all & was known for her incredible giving spirit. As a passionate dressmaker, she could tailor and sew things with precision. When not behind the sewing machine, she was a skilled hairstylist bringing joy and confidence to the family and friends. Nanay is known for her warmth, love, and consistency she brings to the kitchen. She was the master of ceremonies, transforming simple ingredients into memorable family moments. She was good in creating comforting treats, such as homemade cookies, cakes, pies and often served during holidays or special occasions. She was typically viewed as a Chef At Home who brings family, friends and relatives together with delicious & consistent homemade meals mostly Filipino culture foods and delicacies that she often learned through generations and some from internet YouTube videos.

Beloved Nanay's legacy lives on in the heart of all she loved, the delicious meals she cooked, the styling hair she fixed and the elegant dresses she made. The family wishes her to be remembered for her vibrant spirit and her dedication to making life beautiful for those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.

Services will be held at Healey Mortuary & Crematory, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA, 93905.
