Cecil Hayden Obituary

Frankfort - Maurice "Cecil" Hayden, age 88, passed away peacefully at Frankfort Regional Medical Center on Thursday, March 19, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation/gathering will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

Born in Frankfort, he was the son of the late William Arthur Hayden and Mary Hulker Blackburn. Cecil loved his family and was the caregiver to his wife, Joan; he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene; a veteran and served in the U.S Army; owned and operated Frankfort Auto Parts, served as Commodore at the Frankfort Boat Club and retired from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, as Chief Deputy.

He enjoyed the outdoors, talking about the past, loved spending time with family and friends and helping others. So many people knew him…no matter where he went. He enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and was a perfectionist in all activities.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan K. Hayden (his high school sweetheart), daughter, Kathy Brown (Tom), and son, Steve Hayden (Angela); brothers, Jimmy Hayden (Shirley), Larry Hayden (Annette), Terry Paige (Dana), sister, Betty Shouse (John) and sister-in-law, Monika Hayden; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Evelyn Hayden, and brothers, Arthur "Art" Hayden and William "Bill" Hayden.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Lauren Moore, Jaron Hayden, Shelby Andersen, Hayli Hayden; great-grandchildren, Lynden Moore, Braxtyn Hayden, Braelyn Hayden and James Andersen.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Cecil's memory to the American Heart Association.
