Anita Carol Ackerman, 85, of Munger, died Sunday, March 9, 2025, at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. She was born on November 4, 1939, in Bay County, daughter of the late Otto and O'Lester (Barcia) Krabbe. She was Baptized on December 10, 1939, and God confirmed her faith on April 6, 1952, with Pastor Rutlegde at St. James Lutheran Church. Anita was united in marriage to Duane Ackerman on July 12, 1958, at St. James Lutheran Church. God blessed their marriage with three sons. Duane preceded her in death on January 13, 2025. Her most cherished role in life was being a wonderful homemaker for her family.
Anita grew up on a farm in Munger and spent her time with her three sisters and brother. She spent a lot of time with friends, relatives and neighbors. They enjoyed swimming and fishing on their family pond and spent the winters ice skating and sledding. She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, sewing and doing crafts. She was a very active member of her church. The last few years she quilted with her church group for Lutheran World Relief. Anita would also help with church dinners and funeral luncheons as she was able. Most of all she loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Surviving are her sons and their spouses; Keith (Connie) Ackerman, Kenneth (Sue) Ackerman, and Glenn (Jodie) Ackerman; eight grandchildren; Miranda Ackerman, Justin (Rachel) Ackerman, Bradlee (Kim) Ackerman, Nathan (Alina) Ackerman, Andrew Ackerman, Dana (Matthew) Piazza, Demitria Ackerman, and McKinley (Warren) Pike; nine great-grandchildren; sibling, Joan Pergande; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Charlotte Skaggs and Lyle (Jeanne) Ackerman; a special niece, Debbie Edwall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Anita was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Otto (Nina) Krabbe, Wilma (Hank) Broderick, Luella (John) Galganski; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell and Frances Ackerman, brother-in-law, Jim Pergande, and brother-in-law, Donald Skaggs.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at Trinity-St James Lutheran Church, 119 E Munger Rd, Munger, MI. The burial will take place at Denmark TWP Cemetery at 2pm. Anita's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Trinity-St James Lutheran Church or Merritt TWP Fire Department.
