Jonathan Carter Obituary

Jonathan "Jay" Carter, 45, of Bowman, ND, passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck on April 20, 2024, after an accident at his home. Jay was a New Year's Eve baby born December 31, 1978 to David K. and Debbie L. Carter.

Jay lived most of his life in Montana, and was a graduate of Custer County District High School and attended Miles Community College. He served his community through his work at Ace Hardware and Windy's Bar & Restaurant in Bowman, ND. Jay was known for his unforgettable, brash, funny, and kind personality, and was the best son, brother, uncle, and dog dad. Jay worked hard, and loved, and was loved, by his many friends and family.

In his free time, Jay enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and dog. Due to the circumstances and Jay's generous decision to be an organ donor, there will not be any services held.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles & Mary Kirby, grandparents Lloyd and Betty Carter, great grandparents Ted and Margaret Carter, and best friend and brother, Tom Hall.

Jay is survived by his parents David & Carmella Carter, and Debbie Carter & Butch Niederhauser, sister Sabrina J Carter, nephew Jaxson J Carter, niece, Jillian Hom, nephew Brook Walter, and grand nephew Benjamin Carter, and sister-in-law Miranda Hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Miles City Animal Shelter or a shelter of your choice in Jay's memory. Or, buy a drink for a friend, and raise a glass in his honor.
