John Witt Obituary

Witt, John L. 10/30/1951 - 5/19/2022 Battle Creek John L. Witt passed away at home on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the age of 70 after a long bout with cancer. John was great with his quick wit, if you were one of his favorite people, then you had a nickname, and everything related to that name. He was a true people person and made the very best happy to see bartender, which he did after he retired. John was a welder by trade and worked at Wells Aluminum Company, before switching jobs to head maintenance coordinator for the Upjohn Company. John also worked for Bunting Bearing and Kepco. His darts were thrown with determination, and he won many tournaments and leagues. John also enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the country and rode with the VFW 1527 group many years, including the parade each year for young burn victims. John was a member of the color guard for Post 5855 and participated in their parades and veteran services when requested. He was one of the most likeable people you'd ever meet. He will be sorely missed in every aspect of life. John is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Dave (Mendy) Witt and their children, Chris, Nikki, Jonathon, Bailey, Payton, Dalton, Gavin and Dawson, and Robert (Sharon) Witt; two daughters, Missy, and her children Joe and Jesica, and Angela (Alvin) and their children, Andrew and Amber. A Celebration of Life for John will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the VFW Post 5855 on Sprinkle Rd. in Portage from 2:00pm until 6:00pm.
