Janice Mooney Gamble, age 76, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024.

A native of Winder, Georgia, Janice was the daughter of the late Clarence M. Mooney and Ida Mae Crane. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather Lawrence M. Crane; niece Audrey Thompson; granddaughter Ruth Beatrice Gamble.

After high school she earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Georgia Southern University. She retired from Memphis City Schools where she taught Special Education for 36 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lou Gamble, Jr., sons Louis (Elizabeth) Gamble and Eric (Ana) Gamble, granddaughters Mary Harvey Gamble and Betty Mae Gamble, sisters Gail M. Webb, Concord VA, Susan M. Thompson, Winder GA, brother Randy Mooney, Winder GA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Janice will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and humor. Her joy in life was her family. She taught her sons the importance of kindness and compassion for all, pursuing education, and attending church as boys. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Forrest Spence Fund, a local non-profit that assists with the non-medical needs of the families of sick children.

A visitation will be held at Independent Presbyterian Church (4738 Walnut Grove Rd, Memphis, TN 38117) from 10:30am -11:30am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. A graveside service will then follow at 12:00pm at Memorial Park Cemetery.
