Dora Rasmussen Obituary
Dora Louise Rasmussen, 99, of McHenry, IL, passed away on, Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Courtyard at McHenry in McHenry, Illinois. She was born November 22, 1924, in Prairie View, and was a former resident of Green Oaks and Lake Villa.
Dora was a member of the Libertyville American Legion Auxiliary, the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club, and the former Calvary Presbyterian Church in Round Lake. She enjoyed camping with friends and family, gardening, knitting, being an enthusiastic spectator at grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events, and making everyone smile with her playful sense of humor at family gatherings.
Surviving are her three sons, Robert L. (Lois) Rasmussen of Ingleside, Donald (Anna) Rasmussen of Bartlett, and Thomas (Elizabeth) Rasmussen of Grayslake; six grandchildren, Pamela Rasmussen, Erin (Matt) Schurter, Kristin (Eric) Jodts, Christina (Walker) VanArsdale, Daniel (Megan) and Matthew Rasmussen; nine great-grandchildren, Rylie, Reese, and Addison Schurter, Carter and Zachary Jodts, Parker, Landon, and Avery VanArsdale, and Claudia Chlipala; and one brother, Edward Gleason of Grayslake, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert G. Rasmussen, parents Edward E. and Minnie (Heinsohn) Gleason, her sister Ethel Calanca, and by four brothers, Robert, Lyell, Herbert, and Richard Gleason.
A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org would be appreciated.
