Patricia Anderson Obituary

Patricia L. Anderson (MacMillan)
Born: February 6, 1939
Died: July 3, 2022
Patricia Lorraine Anderson (MacMillan) passed away at the age of 83 on July 3rd, 2022 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford from complications following surgery.
Patricia was born in Timmons, Ontario Canada, the oldest daughter of a gold miner and a homemaker to 6 young children. Upon the death of her father in 1951, she, her mother and her five siblings emigrated to the United States to Mooseheart Child City & School in Batavia, Illinois. Mooseheart is a community for the widows and children of deceased members of the Loyal Order of the Moose. She graduated from Mooseheart High School and then moved to DeKalb, Illinois eventually marrying her husband of 56 years, Stanley, after meeting at McCabe's where she was a waitress. She was a long-time employee of Northern Illinois University working in many roles over the years, making many friends and going out of her way to embarrass her son as much as possible during his time at school there. She loved to garden, play golf, sew, root for the Chicago Blackhawks and have her daily exercise. Never one to dither, she was always on the move whether it be helping with the kids' activities, quilt club or making clothing for her children. She was renowned for lavishing unconditional love, as well as heaps of freshly baked goods, upon her grandchildren. She was genuine, exceedingly pragmatic and fiercely independent.
She was preceded in death by her mother Marie Florida and her father John "Jack" MacMillan, as well as her brothers Edward and Raymond, her sister Louise and nephew Mark Ampleford. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Stanley Anderson, four children, Lori Kneisler (husband David and children Allison and Steven), Robin Anderson (wife Lori and children Lindsey, Spencer and Dana), Dawn Sibley (children Leah and Drew) and Hallie Graziano (children Isabelle, Lauren and Michael); one sister, Maureen (husband Rick Ampleford); one brother, Brian MacMillan; three nieces, Tracy MacMillan, Erin Quinn (MacMillan) and Leslie Giroux (Ampleford); and one nephew, Andrew MacMillan.
A visitation will be held Sunday, July 10th from 12-2 pm at Finch Funeral Home in Dekalb followed by a memorial service at 2 pm at the same location.
Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome at Mooseheart Child City & School in her memory as a graduate of the class of 1958. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL, 60115 (815) 758-3841.
