Roland Bowie

Weare, NH - Roland W. Bowie Sr. of Weare left this earth on February 1 st , 2024 after a long illness.He was born in Goffstown on January 17, 1951 to James B. and Doris (Fanthorpe) Bowie.

As a young Vietnam vet receiving the Purple Heart Medal, Roland returned home to work at the Rumford Press, Concord Lumber, and was later the proud owner of Weare Paving and Construction since 1984.

He was a hard-working man who loved his family, his dog Nika, his country and his friends especially Skip, Joe, Ed B., Wade, Rodney, John and Clark. He loved to help others- 24/7 he was always there when needed. Roland had a sparkle of fun in his beautiful blue eyes and was always looking to pull a great prank or make someone laugh.

He was a member and former commander of the American Legion Post #65 in Weare, NH.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, his 64 Ford Galaxy, his bike, scratch tickets, and his morning Dunkin' Run with his beloved dog Nika. Above all, his family was his greatest joy.

Roland is survived by his wife Stephanie (Chesley) Bowie, his children: Roland Jr. of Franklin, Tara Marcotte of NY, Joseph of Tilton and his daughter-in-law Michelle of Weare, his grandchildren: Michael, Kayla, Kierra, Roland III, Justin, Hunter and James, and three great-grandchildren: William, Sage and Mila.

He is also survived by his brothers Ralph and James Jr. of Maine, sister Jamie of Florida, brother-in-law Dennis and his wife Mary Beth of Ossipee, and sisters-in-laws Jackie of Florida, Tammy of Barnstead and Melanie of Loudon as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Roland was predeceased by his parents, his sister Carole & her husband Al, his brother Phil and brothers-in-law Ron, Jeremy and Patrick.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 9th from 4:00pm-7:00pm and a memorial service will be held the next morning at 10:00am at the French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast Street Goffstown, NH 03045.
