We had amazing people at WLOS-TV in Asheville, NC. When Tom joined the staff, he added style, drive, and talent in measures difficult to find in an individual human being. He was also a serious journalist, and his judgement was well respected. I will always remember his rendition of "Danny Boy," belted out on stage at a local watering hole, after he announced he was leaving our station to move to Baltimore. Very professional. Very likable. Very memorable. A neighbor who worked in print journalism told me he had read that Tom was gone. My respect and condolences to everyone who knew and loved him.

Oh Beth-- Sweeney was one of the very best. Totally loved that guy... from his knowledge of the business to his delightful sense of humor and kindness. They don't make 'em like Tom anymore. Love you too during this tough time. (I'll never forget you singing at the Battle of the Bands-- the very coolest of us all :). God bless.

Tom was our next door neighbor. He was a wonderful presence in my husband, Jay´s, life during his last battle with brain cancer. I´d come home and the 2 of them would be sitting out in the driveway, just being together, talking, chuckling about something that was funny to them. He was there when Jay (and I) needed someone to talk to. I will be forever grateful for his kindness and generosity.

Tom was a funny, smart . Insightful and kind colleague at Channel 3.
We sat back to back in the newsroom ,providing a chance to exchange quips, grumbles and astute observations about stories we were working on or the absurdities of our workplace , managers, TV news and life in general .
I am not a veteran , but admired his dedication to getting the Fisher House to the finish line.
He made a difference and left the world a better place .

Tom Sweeney and Beth became good friends at WKYC at a time when it was most appreciated. Tom brought a wealth of experiences and knowledge and common sense to his job. His abilities to listen carefully, learn thoughtfully, and express himself clearly were the best of the best. My deepest condolences to Beth, his sons, and the rest of the Sweeney family. Thank you Tom Sweeney.

Tucker was the very best godfather a girl could ask for; he and my dad met in Vietnam, a less than idyllic situation, but they somehow forged a lifelong friendship in a foxhole. I was lucky to have had Tucker´s support, wisdom and encouragement for these last 50 years. Tucker always made an effort to come visit us in Northern CA and for that we are all grateful. I will always carry with me the shenanigans and laughter that ensued during his visits, as well as all of the wisdom and guidance he lovingly bestowed on me all those years. Tucker was my pen pal in high school and again after the end of my first marriage. His insight and support during those tumultuous years were an amazing gift and reassured me that this too shall pass.
I know of all his accomplishments and gifts, the two very best that he was most proud of were his sons Tommy (Tuck) and Connor. The way that he always spoke with such pride about his boys and that he was such an engaged father and truly wanted nothing more than to see them live their best lives, whatever that looked like for them was inspiring to me.
Sending lots of love to you Beth, Tommy and Connor, what an incredible gift you all were to Tucker.
Tucker, I will miss you old friend, thank you for all of the laughter, support and wisdom. I love you.

I just remember him as one of the most interesting people I have had the pleasure to know. Had a great night talking about life on a visit he made to Cincinnati back in the 90´s. Drinks and conversation in the grand bar at the Omni Netherland Plaza. I am sure you will miss him greatly. A gentleman.
