Anna Smith Obituary

On Saturday, February 10, 2024, Anna Eugenia Smith (nee Bryant) loving wife and mother of two daughters, peacefully passed away at age 94.
Anna (affectionately known as Jean) was born on October 23, 1929, in Cleveland, OH to Emma D. Bryant. She had an older brother and a younger sister. She graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland in 1948. On June 10, 1950, Jean married the handsome Lawrence Vern Smith. She worked as an accountant with the Defense Contract Administration Services Region for over 30 years.
Jean and Lawrence loved traveling and cruising, with several trips to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and South America. Her favorite activities included bowling, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble into the wee hours of the morning. Jean's friendships with her extended family reflected a broad spectrum of interests and special relationships. From holding phone chats, to gathering with the Young Mothers Club, Le Belle Fleurs, and PLA-MATES, to sharing informal/formal meals and entertaining, Jean sought out adventures near and far. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends and compassionate caregivers.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Lawrence, sister Donna Bryant Hewston and brother James Lockett. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Dr. Vicki Turner (Dr. Hugh A.) and Kelly Allen (Ryan), aunt of Walter, Marsha (Curtis), Yvette, Lauren, Calen, Tamyre, and extended family of Nikki, Chase, Keith, Shane, Devon, Briana, Bianca, and Amina. Jean will also be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends. Arrangements entrusted to E.F.
