Kenneth Keene Obituary

Kenneth "Squirt" Keene, 96, Marion, passed away at 11:10 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Services in Indianapolis. He was born in Gas City, Indiana, on Sunday, February 20, 1927, to Waldo Kenneth and Florence (Southerland) Keene. He had been married to Judi Keene, who preceded him in death.

Squirt graduated from Marion High School and served in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Squirt became a local bar owner. He had owned three bars in Marion over the years – Squirts, Alley Oops, and Blue Note.

Squirt loved golf and was a championship golfer in Grant County. He had gotten a hole in one in 1998. He loved fishing, hunting, and karaoke. His favorite song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, and this is how he lived his life and the way he went out.

Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly Keene of Leesburg and Denise (Michael) Dunham of Marion; son, KJ Keene of Syracuse; special friend, Lou Shrontz of Zeeland, MI; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sons, Randy Keene and Scott Flory; daughters, Lynna Keene and Micki Jones; brother, Robert Keene; and sister, Mary Irey.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Squirt's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Don Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
