Around 1980, I was a lost soul. Tony came to our home and sat me down. He repeated the same expletive numerous times to get my attention. It worked. Our contacts over the many months left his mark on me in a unique way. I left Nelson a few years later. In 2005, Tony was the celebrant for my brother Steve's wedding in Nelson and spoke of his long connection with our family. In 2010, Tony officiated over the funeral of my father John snr (Jack) also in Nelson. I've returned to Nelson recently after 40 years and looked up Tony to thank him for what he did for me and for my family. Instead, I'm reading about his loss. Despite my rough exterior and being covered in tattoos, I've been sitting here with tears rolling down my cheeks. Condolences to Tony's loved ones and many friends x

We are so sorry to hear of Tony's passing. Sincere sympathy to the family. Tony is remembered and appreciated for officiating at weddings and funerals in our family and also for his leadership at Grace Church. May you be comforted in your loss in the same way as he comforted others - through Jesus Christ.

We first had Tony and Norma in our lives in the 1980s. From there he became a cherised friend who was the celebrant in many weddings and funerals for our family. A man who stood and accepted any soul no matter who they were or what they had done without judgement. A true christian who walked the talk in sincerity. Thank god for his life as he thanked god for so many others.
