Passed away November 1, 2024, aged 84 years. Dearly loved wife of John, mother of Richard, Matt, Dan, Pat and Ben, and grandmother of 9. Special thanks to staff of Oakwoods for their care in her final days.

Sorry to hear this news.
Valerie was my Oboe teacher from around 1984 to 1990. She was a no nonsense but fun teacher who guided me work through my grades to gain performers cert and play in the Nz sec schools orchestra.
We played alongside each other in local orchestras too.
It was always great to catch up with her whenever we bumped into each other when I was visiting Nelson.

We´re so very sad to hear of Valerie´s passing. She made a huge contribution (along with John) over many years of work and participation in musical life in Nelson. A teacher of oboe and piano, accompanist, and a comrade for many years in the woodwind section of the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, Nelson Wind Quintet, and the orchestra pit for many musical theatre productions. Many great memories. Our sincere thoughts are with all the family.
