The Mapua Bridge Club are so going to miss you Tord. We are saddened that we had your company for such a short time but feel blessed we got to enjoy your sharp mind and quiet but wicked sense of humour.

I, as Tords oldest brother, has known Tord from his first days. We grew up together with our sister Laila in a small rural community, Norrviken, about 20 km north of Stockholm in Sweden. We had a wonderful childhood in a big house close to nature and we spent most of the time outdoors playing in the forest a few hundred meters away. In the summer we moved to a private island in the archipelago owned by our father and our uncle, accompanied by our cousins that were also our best friends.
As children and until we started to be young men, we moved in different circles, but we found a common interest in cross country skiing, that resulted in much time together. During the winter season, we often drow the car from Stockholm friday evening, 700 km to the mountains in Jämtland arriving some hours after midnight, slept in the car had breakfast at eight, and toured the mountains saturday and sunday and drove back sunday afternoon. Many nice memories from this period.
Our roads parted when Tord started an international career in environmental health and discovered the charms of the girls in NZ, but his regular visits in Sweden were highlights for me and all his Swedish friends. His performances of a Japanese drinking song, starting Oj, Oj Deckan CHO during parties are unforgettable.
This year we worked together on an article where we show that the costs of health effects from air pollution and higher temperature are sufficient reason for abandoning coal power plants. I am so happy that Tord had the pleasure to know that the article was accepted for publication, before he left us.
Tord was a great little brother. He had a good life and he deserved it. I wish that it could have lasted some more years though...
