To you Tom, bloody good team mate and friend.
These few words of those great times of our cricket seasons at Shore are written with great respect and fond memories.
You a true follower of the traditions, a disciple of the game.
Recollections of the slip cordon' normally of one (at most two) snaring a few catches.
You, understated but oh so efficient and effective at the bowling crease.
Not quite so at the batting crease as I recall.
No ranting or raving at umpires, just calmness and acceptance, a true gentleman.
Your keen wit, dry sense of humour and that disarming smile.
As a team mate thoroughly dependable, strength of character, toughness personified.
You disappearing immediately at end of play
only to return with a crate of Flagons from the famous Masonic Hotel, that fizzy bottled rubbish not good enough for you or your mates
Who you are and just what you mean to your team mates and to Shore shall remain a part of us all forever.
Thanks for the memories.
God Bless and travel well
