To Mary and family. Please accept our sincere condolences and deep sympathy at what to us was shock news. I worked with Terry in the Magistrates Court at Christchurch in the early 60s. Time went by and in Nov 1979 I was appointed as Senior Deputy at Invercargill with Grant Smith at the helm. Grant and I started there a fortnight apart, and when I moved back to Christchurch at the beginning of 1982 Terry took my place with Grant. I have many memories of working with Terry. His visible positive attitude, sense of humour and compassion prevailed over various situations. He was a valuable member and achiever of the wider Ministry of Justice. Contact was always very enjoyable. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Mary and Family, I am sorry to hear of Terry´s passing and pass on my thoughts and prayers. Please accept my sincerest sympathies and condolences.
I am proud of the time I worked with Terry in the Courts, his positive can-do attitude with a hint of caution when required is how I remember him. His special brand of humour and empathy was a feature of our interactions.

Terry and I have been long time friends.
We both attended Appleby Primary School. After school Terry would come to the farm to explore and play. In later years he said "we used to run wild on the farm".
My Mum and Aunty used to call Terry "Silky" and we hoped Aunty wasn't watching when we visited the out of bounds orange tree!
We played schoolboy rugby together and were both in the Waimea College First XV. Looking back they were happy days.
It was good to renew our friendship when Terry moved back to Richmond.
Our condolences to Mary and family and to his sisters, Jill, Prudence and Honora.
Terry will be sadly missed.

To Mary and family, Terry's passing will be felt by those many whose lives he touched. He was an all-rounded man, appreciated by fellow students at Waimea College, and as a friend. I learnt much from him as my Manager. I admired his calm, logical approach to problems we faced and enjoyed his dry sense of humour. I cannot be there on 4th and hope the service brings some consolation to the family

Terry has a special place in the hearts of our family. We really enjoyed the social times we spent with Terry and Mary. A great sense of humor and fun to be around. Sending heaps of love to you Mary as you try to navigate life without the physical presence of Terry. Love to the rest of the family.

It was a real shock to learn of Terry's passing today. Marilyn and I would like to offer our most sincere sympathy to Mary and the family at this time.
Terry and I went to Waimea College at the same time, and - being in the same classes , became good friends. Invariably cheerful and great company, Terry was keen to get involved in a range of the college's extra-curricular activities. He excelled in rugby where his skills, teamsmanship and leadership qualities were quickly recognized and encouraged- particularly in his years in the college's first fifteen. He carried these and many other very positive qualities on into his successful career in the justice system. Many people will miss him a great deal.

Mary and family please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Terry . He certainly packed much into his life and you can all be proud of the contributions he and you all gave to the public of Aotearoa and local communities. It was a pleasure and a privilege for me to be a close professional partner with Terry over all those years in Invercargill.
His good humor, can do, and empathy to all was the cornerstone of his modus operandi. Certainly a memorable time together and remembered fondly.
Geoff and Di.
