Sydney WHITE Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sydney Grant White (Syd) at Wakefield, on February 15, 2025. Sydney was the beloved husband of Mahala; father of Nicholas, Timothy (Tom), Andrew and Richard; and grandfather of Charlotte, Lucca, Penny, Olive and Phoebe. A quiet, clever man, with a twinkle in his eye, Syd was a dedicated architect for over 30 years with many legacies to his name, including the beautiful Lake Rotoiti Chapel. Syd was farewelled by his immediate family at the Gardens of Remembrance Chapel in Hope on February 19, 2025. Thinking of you all four young whites and Mahala, many memories tramping with Sydney, that straight face when he told a joke. We tramped for 30+ years. Many great memories in the hills. The day he carried a pink long stem rose and a can of beer up the Karamea steep hill to meet us after sleeping on the floor of the van that was to transport us home. He will be up with my Bryan telling jokes. love Pamela Chapman

Dear Harley, my thoughts are with you and your family. Syd certainly lived a full life, yes the twinkle in those eyes I always remember. You and the family have many memories to share. I´ll catchup when I´m over next month.
