Shuji TAKASHIMA Obituary

On June 15, 2024, at the age of 82, has left us suddenly due to a fall at home. Even though Shuji was fighting Parkinson's disease, he didn't let it stop him from holding a successful art exhibition at Nelson Suter Art Gallery last November. Shuji was well loved by the art and music communities in Nelson, Japan and beyond. His memorial service was held at Nelson Centre of Musical Arts on June 19, surrounded by many special friends, music and prayers.

We met on the boat from Kenya to India in 1976. We Travalled to Goa and later went each our own way. Love him till now deep in my heart.

A dear friend and colleague from our film production days. We had some great times together, on some tough jobs, too. I particularly remember the Gold Coast in Australia, and him making me walk the Greenstone Track down the South Island. He was a gentle and talented man, and always good-humoured. Rest in peace, Shuji.
