Dear Mercia and Family. It is with great sadness that I have learned of Rowland's passing. Rowley was a true gentleman, respected scientist and much valued friend. The legacy of his work (not only in Antarctica), will long endure. I have a lovely photo taken by Janet when we visited in November 2019. We laughed about his "framed" socks which appeared in two of my books, now in the Royal Family Collection and he had hoped to visit my Polar Room in Christchurch with its memorabilia. Janet's and my thoughts are with you all. With sincere sympathy from us both. David Harrowfield 15 Villa Grove Ilam Christchurch 8041
