Philippa was a member of our book club for about 20 years. She had an incredible memory for books she had read, making thoughtful and insightful comments about the characters and authors discussed. Our last meeting was early this year at Philippa's home. She was alert and shared her enjoyment of "Prophet Song" with us. She commented on her university days in Ireland and talked about the role of women in the home linking her experiences with that of the lead character in the book. It is a good memory for us to see how engaged she was in spite of failing health. A spirit of the 60s.

Philippa was so warm and friendly. I remember her offering her house in Cable bay for my honeymoon. It would have been so much nicer and more colourful, like her, than the hotel.
