Hello Annette and and family.
I was sad when John phoned to let me know that Phil had passed away.
Our lives had drifted apart as we each sought our own way in the world but talking with John brought back many happy memories ofout time together as flatmates,Rugby games and practice and time with Phill's family in Murchison.
We journeyed together from being country boys to young men. I value that time and Phill's example of loyalty, integrity, work ethic and friendship. Wishing you comfort as mourn a good husband , father, grandfather and great great grandfather.

Annette & family it came as a shock when my brother rang me from Richmond to let me know of Phil`s passing. I first met Phil as a Junior at Dalgetys in Nelson, where i was asked if my land lady would take on another border. We boarded together for a year or so until we went flatting together with another young Scrimgeour from Collingwood. Phil and I played Rugby together, worked in my Uncles tobacco at weekends, pig shooting in Murchison, plus trout fishing in the Mangles river. Phil`s Uncle owned the Owen River Hotel, so yes we did partake there from time to time on our travels back and forth to Muchison from Nelson. Annette Colleen and I are thinking of you all at this time. Phil and I had great times which I will always remember. RIP mate. regards John
