Patrick MALONEY Obituary

In his 68th year of priestly service, it is with deep sorrow that Our Lady of the Bays announces the death of Rev. Fr Patrick Thomas Maloney, who passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026 at Green Gables Care Centre, Nelson. He was a loved son of Bridget and Nicholas Maloney, and brother and brother-in law of Ted and Marion Maloney, Mary and Paul Ryan, Nellie and Lance Riddell, Margaret and Cyril Kubala, Kathleen (SR Aquin SMSM) and Nick. A much-loved uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Treasured friend of Gabrielle, Pip and many others.

Father Pat's rosary was in St Francis of Assisi Church, Stoke at 6.00pm on Thursday, March 5. Archbishop Paul celebrated a Memorial Mass for Fr. Pat in St Peter Chanel Church, Motueka, at 1.30pm on Friday, March 6. Father Pat's Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Cathedral, Dunedin on Thursday, March 12, 2026 commencing at 11.00am, followed by burial.
