We are deeply saddened to read of our dear friend Murray´s passing . I first met Murray in about 1953 and from that day it was always an absolute delight to be in his company and I know that all those who were fortunate enough to have him working for them in the wider district thought likewise . Like all of us , I´m sure there would have been times when Murray found it difficult to smile but the image that I carry of him is a beautiful honest face with the most infectious smile which always broke out into a laughter all round . The thing that struck me the most about Murray from a very early age was the courtesy and respect he showed when discussing anything and his eagerness to get on with the job was greatly appreciated . As an example , on one particular day Murray was working with the Leov boys on a fencing job when one of them said " go down and get the strainers " to which Murray instantly took off down hill at high speed with the boys yelling " Stop ,Stop " he didn´t stop until he caught the tensioned top wire which he hadn´t seen . From that day on , every time I saw Murray I would pretend to undo his shirt buttons to look at the scare that he carried for quite a while .
We all survived many hairy experiences but the lack of anything stronger than ginger beer and the common sense which Murray had plenty of , probably allowed us to get away with it .
Murray´s passing leaves a big gap in our lives .
