Thank you for Plum, Meg and Sole Survivor. And especially for Under the Mountain. I read the latter to my 10 year old niece. We were both terrified and the next weekend visited the Pump House and explored around the shores of Lake Pupuke. We were still terrified! Wonderful gifts from you to us.

Dear Margarita,

I was so sad to learn of Maurices' recent passing and hope that the love and thoughts of your family and friends will comfort you at this time.

When Maurice came into Turnbull to see you at times, he always impressed me as a humble and lovely gentleman despite his status as a great writer.

With my love and sympathy,

Jill Palmer
