Marie BAIGENT Obituary

Passed away suddenly and peacefully at Stillwater Lifecare, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, aged 98 years. Loved wife of the late Peter Baigent and John Cairns (Ashburton), loved mum of Beverley and John, David and Sue, Tahlia and Kris. Beloved step-mum of Chris and Mandy, Steve and the late Di, Maree and David. Much loved Nana Marie of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I will miss my chats with Marie when I visit Stillwater. She is one of the loveliest Christians I have met. My sympathy to the family.

Marie's mother and my grandmother were sisters.
I'd been seeing a bit of Marie since she moved into Stillwater. I will really miss our visits. We would talk about everything.
Marie had the most amazing memory. She would remember details of our discussions from weeks previously. She was so switched on and very engaged with details of everyone's lives - in person and on Facebook.
On one of my earlier visits to Marie, I found her on the way to the gym. We had our visit there - Marie on the treadmill! She'd have been 95 or 96 then.
I recently found a photo of Marie and my mother Anne Austin - at some event. I was intending to take it to show Marie this week but sadly, she left us. RIP Marie.
