MORRIS, Leone Ruth
(nee Bensemann):
Peacefully at Ernest Rutherford Retirement Village on Sunday, January 16, 2022; aged 87 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Stan for 57 years. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Ruth and Neville, Mark and Christine. Dearly loved grandma and great-grandma of Alasdair, Julia and Nicola; and great-granddaughter Eden. Much loved sister, aunty, teacher, writer, poet, story teller and friend to many. Special thanks for the wonderful care provided to Leone by the Ernest Rutherford staff over the last four years. A Service to celebrate Leone's life will be held at the Waimea Richmond Funeral Home Chapel, 24 Champion Road, Richmond, on Tuesday, January 25, at 11.00am. Vaccine passes will be required. I well remember Leone from college, then met occasionally through university. We then found ourselves in Whakatane when she and Stan were teaching in Kawerau and became friends as couples. In consequence when we moved to Wellington and had children, we swapped houses in two summers so we could enjoy the Bay of Plenty and the Morrises could visit family in Wellington. Later we also had contact with Leone in her second career as author. Our heartfelt sympathy to Ruth and Mark and their families, Mary & Trevor Mowbray
