Kevin GIBBONS Obituary

First and best boss I ever had.Served my apprenticeship under his guidance in the early 1970s.

Kevin ( or Gib) as we called him was member of the Nelson Garrison Band (now Nelson City Brass) from around 1957
He also played in Nelson Citizens and
Motueka Bands.
During his time as
publican of Dominion Hotel he was a generous
sponsor of the band
Kevin and I were often charged with delivering band chairs and music stands to band engagements and setting them up using Harry Cotttons truck. Kevin and I along with the late Russel Dickson remained
life long friends.
Kevin's most recent involvement with Brass Band was with the Social Band of Nelson City Brass.
Unfortunately Kevin's health did not allow him to continue playing the E flat Bass he so enjoyed.
Kevin with myself were again reunited recently at our mutual friend Russel
Dickson funeral. Unfortunately I cannot attend the funeral to pay my last respects to Kevin.

Sorry to hear of Kevin´s passing.Worked for Kevin and Kathy at the Dominion they were great times. Way back when they first put Macs ale on Tap.Lots of memories there. Trish Degoldi.

condolences to all the family.many fond memorays of kevin and his brothers and sistors we will never forget our monday night pool at the provincial tavern and kevin would arrive and try andupset our good players. a lot of fun had by all of which doreen and i will never forget. thinking of you at this sad time.
