SILKE, Ken Patrick:
Passed away peacefully at The Wood Retirement Village after a well fought battle on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, aged 81 years. A much loved father and father-in-law of Kaylene and the late Tony Wastney; Denise Silke and Murray Miller; Trevor Silke and Pam Sycamore. A dear and special friend of Vivienne Silke. A dearly loved and proud grandfather and great-grandfather to all of his granchildren and great-grandchildren. A loved brother and brother-in-law of Tony and Joy; Terry (deceased) and Ngaire; Maurice (deceased) and Margaret. A funeral service for Ken will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church, 18 Manuka St, Nelson, on Friday, February 3, 2017, commencing at 2.00pm.

Thinking of you all at this sad time. Uncle Ken definitely fought a courageous battle and will now be at peace. Hopefully by now he has caught up with Dad and Uncle Maurice so 3 of the Silke brothers are together again no doubt riding the skies like they rode their bikes all those years ago. Love to you all. I started work in our family business in 1960,Ken was the mechanic assigned to try & make me become a mechanic,together we achieved the almost impossible & became firm friends ever since,go in peace my good friend,no more cars to fix.
