I have many happy memories, the most recent was attending her 85th birthday party in 2009 held at her eldest daughter and son-in-law Joycelyn and Ian Robinson's home at Blenheim. With Joyces' passing goes my oldest and closest relative on my mothers side of my family who was my mother, Ruth Adam's (d.1998), oldest sister and only brother, Bill Percy (d.1995). As with Bill's wife Pat Percy (d.2006), my other aunty many historic family photographs were forwarded both by Joyce and Pat to me over the years that I retain the originals of and I value these immensly. Joyces's parents were WJ' William Percy and Daisy (nee Gadd) Percy (Born 1896, Bundaberg, Queensland. Died Masterton 1972) who lived in the Waiararapa. Joyce was born at Eketahuna and was pround of that fact. Her dad at this time farmed at nearby Bideford. I retain historic family photographs from this period (such as those of the Percy's Reserve and Townsend relatives visiting the Matahiwi farm) and the decades before that her Dad owned. I have entered a considerable amount of family history on a web site that a friend kindly gave me free access to enter the data on that I can provide the password to view. Joyce's funeral is at Richmond, Nelson, on Tuesday 17th March at 2.30pm. Her late husband, George White, a WWII returned serviceman and prisoner of war from Crete, died in the early 2000's. RIP Aunty Joyce.
