Joseph COSTELLO Obituary

Passed away unexpectedly doing what he loved, in a place he loved, on Monday, January 20, 2025, aged 43 years. Devoted and much loved father of Tony (TJ), and August (Gus), and a loving partner to their mother Rebecca. Cherished son of Margaret and the late Geoff. Much loved brother of Melissa, Shon and Anna, and Dana and Tristan. An incredibly loved nephew, uncle, and special friend to so many. Heartfelt thanks to the rescue efforts of the Coast Guard and Rescue Helicopter for bringing Joey home. A celebration of Joey's life will be held at Shone and Shirley Funeral Directors, 164 Tahunanui Drive, Nelson, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 11.00am. Messages to the Costello Family can be sent c/- 164 Tahunanui Drive, Nelson 7011 or left at https://www.shoneandshirley.co.nz/tributes where the service will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend.

We were incredibly fortunate to work with Joey over the past two summer seasons at Marahau Sea Kayaks. Joey was an incredible kayak guide and a wonderful mentor to many of our less experienced guides. We feel so fortunate to have had Joey in our lives and we miss him terribly. We also wanted to pass on our best wishes to Joey's family.
