John COLLINS Obituary

John died very suddenly, at home, on Monday, January 20, 2025. A best friend and beloved husband to Susan, a much loved father and father-in-law to Kirsti and Keith, Sally and Jim, Shaun, and Brett and Yvonne, and a treasured Magic to Alex, Max, Thomas and Lucas (our wee star), he will be greatly missed. John was also a loved brother and brother- in-law to Susan, Brian and Anita, Barbara and Alastair, Dennis and Pam, Linda and Chris, Christine and Ken. Please join us on Thursday, February 6, at Moutere Hills Community Centre from 2.00 to 4.00pm for a celebration of his life (and to repeat a few of John's stories). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Motueka St Vincent de Paul.

John was a good friend and mentor to me in the Electrical trade when I first emigrated to NZ in the nineties. Later I worked with him at SIT in Christchurch. John always had time for those that wanted to learn leaning over backwards to help them. John was soften quite entertaining in his teaching methodology and always had a good yarn to tell which was usually but not always relevant to the subject matter never the less classes always went quickly and were never boring. He always had a great sense of humour and a cheery disposition. Not always politically correct but his forthrightness at times was refreshing. John you will be sadly missed by those who worked with you and so many of those students you taught so diligently over many years, no one could ever fill your shoes. My sincere commiserations to Susan and all those in Johns family circle. Tim Broad (Electrical Inspector Stack Electrical)

Dear Susan and family
I was shocked and saddened to hear of John´s death. What a loss to our community. We appreciated greatly the work he did for St Vincent de Paul and the help he gave to the Motueka Food Network. We didn´t have him for long but he was a kind, generous and decent man who will be truly missed. Our sincere sympathy.
