I was so sad to hear of Jeni's passing recently. You were such a great German teacher in the 80's to me at Nelson Girls - even when I was opting to not hand in work or participate very well - you were still encouraging and had far more tolerance than I really deserved - but I can still rattle off a few key phrases from those days. Thank you for your gift as an educator and as a mentor of learning resilience and kindness. You are remembered very fondly.

Very saddened to hear of the passing of Frau Lemberg. She did an amazing job accommodating a bunch of scruffy boys turning up to her classes at Girls College when we had combined senior classes in 03/04. Her passion showed through her extra context and stories behind the vocabulary. Her support and encouragement to go on exchange to Germany helped me have one of the most important experiences of my youth. It helped me escape my normal life, allowed me to have a very strong subject to carry me to/through University and on to my teaching career. My condolences to the family.

Our beautiful Frau Lemberg. Such terribly sad news - my heart goes out to you, Gary and Sarah. Jeni was still so young, and I imagine fairly newly retired and looking forward to well-deserved adventures. I bumped into her at The Boathouse two summers ago, and I feel very lucky that I was able to introduce her to my own girls and have a good laugh about things that happened in German class way back in the 90s. Every time I go on a teaching course and we are asked to describe an inspirational teacher of our own, I talk about Ms Lemberg´s hilarious and cheeky sketches of our deputy principal while teaching adjective endings, the funny songs we sang, the gummi bears... but mostly about her warmth, her unique gift for making teenagers feel loved. She was such a treasure and a hugely important influence in my life.

Sending the gentlest of love to you Sarah and Gary. I´m so deeply sorry for your loss.I will never forget Jeni´s kindness, empathy and the Kush coffees shared. She taught me so much more than German. She taught me how to learn, taught me how to dream big and taught me how to get to through rough medical times in high school and beyond. Her beautiful legacy will live on in so many.

Ms Lemberg was such an important person in my life too at NCG in the 80s and beyond. She´s that one very special teacher that I´ve always remembered and mentally thanked through the years: such a wonderful teacher but also a kind, caring and supportive mentor and friend. She inspired my lifelong love for languages, and I´m so grateful I got to see her again and thank her for everything a few years ago. Such wonderful, impactful people are few and far between. Bless you and thank you Jeni. Much love to your family and friends, I´m so sorry for your loss xxx

I will always remember Mrs Lemberg for her contagious smile and positivity. She was an amazing teacher and an inspiration to us all.
She was one of my favourite teachers while at NCG and the sole reason I continued with German through 7th form and Uni.
The Coffee and cake Fridays were a day where she truly shone and they are one of my favourite memories of her.
My sincerest condolences to her family.

Aaaww Mrs lemburg!! You were forever my favorite teacher at Nelson College for Girls. As an adult I reflect on my time at Girls college and you were so lovely, non judgemental (even though I was a mischievous student) your compassion towards my tough time and support towards my parents, I'm forever greatful! A life taken far too soon, my condolences to your family xx

I am so very sorry to hear the news of Frau Lemberg's passing. I was very lucky to have her for 4 of my 5 years at NCG and I am 100% sure I wouldn't have kept my German studies going throughout that time without her excellent teaching as well as her genuine care and affection for her students. I have such vivid memories of every class starting with Frau Lemberg walking into the room, clapping her hands and announcing "Also!"
Sending much love to Frau Lemberg's loved ones as well as all of those who were lucky enough to spend some of our school years with her.

Dear Gary and Sarah,
I´m so sad to hear that Jeni has died. She was my German teacher from 1992 to 1996, and she was a hugely important person to me during my high school years.
I fondly remember Jeni`s enthusiastic, engaging and playful teachings. I can clearly see and hear her running through the German prepositions with all the actions, to help us remember them. It still sticks!
Beyond her excellent teaching, Jenny was a hugely warm and supportive person for me. During some difficult times in my teenage years, she was always a safe, warm and available person who went to great lengths to support me.
I still use my German frequently, in fact, I´m living in Melbourne now and my two daughters who are aged seven and nine years old attend the bilingual German English school here. I get to practice my German with them, although they don´t like listening to my Kiwi accent when I speak in German!
I´m very grateful to Jenni for all her teaching love and support and I´m thinking of you all with much warmth.

I would like to acknowledge Jeni's lovely, intelligent and gentle presence in my teenagers' lives, which turned an important part of their schooling into a source of fun and inspiration.
They learned more than just a language from their 'Ms Lemberg'!
My sincere condolences to Jeni's family and loved ones.

Ms Lemberg was my favourite teacher at Nelson Girls, I´m so sorry to hear of her passing and my sincere condolences to Gary and Sarah-what a bright light she was! My memories of Ms Lemberg include crazy breakfasts in class of meat, cheese and chocolate - she sold Germany well to me. She inspired me to travel, especially to Germany and I have now been several times being a travel agent for 32 years. I was not her best student but I´ll never forget her saying `alles klar´ to us, it never was to me but I kept trying. She was pregnant with Sarah when my mum was pregnant with my youngest sister, so I´d swap stories with her about my mums pregnancy and she gave me just a few points over failing so I passed German class, I´m sure that was the deal! I loved her warmth and she was so caring. Tchuss Ms Lemberg, much love and thanks to you for being such a lovely person xxx

I want to send my deepest condolences to Jenni's family and friends. She was a key person in my first few years of teaching Spanish. I attended numerous seminars and training sessions that she ran and her elegance, excellent ideas, creativity and kindness are the things that stood out for me every time I was in her presence. Her dedication to supporting language teachers across New Zealand will not be forgotten. May she rest in eternal love and peace.
