Jacqueline SMITH Obituary

SMITH, Jacqueline Mary (Jacqui), passed peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at home, with the whole family around her, and in the place she had sat for many years and spent her final four days, looking over the harbour to the mountains beyond. Much loved wife and best friend of Peter; cherished Mum, mother-in-law and Nana to Teena, Lesley and Pam, Tracy and Simon, Lyndon and Dale, Sam and Jessie, Emma and Andrew; sister-in-law to Jack and Mary (UK). She taught us how to love, to tread gently and to value family; to enjoy life and to share the joy of food. She smiled, never complained, never judged, nor uttered a cross word, but quietly and generously shared all she had with those around her, always welcoming others and more mouths to feed. A traveller of the world, professional shopper and "upgrader" of appliances, furniture and fittings, she was unique. Jacqui has been on many a journey and now has enjoyed the scenic route home. We celebrate you and all you have been to us. May your shoulders be bathed in sunshine, the path not too steep and the view bring you peace and tranquility, until we join you and those you're keeping company. We love you always. Celebrate laughter and love, wrap up warm, wear bright clothing and join us to farewell Jacqui at Gardens of the World, Corner of Paton and Clover Road, Hope, Nelson, at 1pm on SATURDAY, August 23.
