I was so sad to recently learn of Ian´s passing. We met as five-year-olds at Sunday School and became best mates, a strong friendship that lasted through our primary school years. Weekends and school holidays were spent at each other´s homes, family meals shared and sleepovers. They were great times. During college we drifted apart, for no other reason than different classes, different subjects and interests, eventually losing contact. Ian moved to Nelson and me to Tauranga but more recently we did reconnect via Facebook. It is unfortunate we will never have the opportunity to reconnect as adults and maybe to enjoy an ale together. But those childhood memories of the times that we shared together will always remain precious. Rest in peace Ian. David Mustard

Hey Lynne, Nathan, Ryan, and Erin, my thoughts and love are with you all in the sudden loss of your Ian!! May the many wonderful memories bring you all some form of comfort as you process this tragic loss. From what i recall he would always be looking for the positives in the worst of situations! Lynne you know mum is just a phone call away for anything, or just to chat.
I attended the online funeral and it was very moving to hear what all who spoke had to say, and how clearly he had effected their life journey simply because they had the pleasure of meeting him. Cheers to Ian, i will never forget him and and the memories i have of the time we spent together.

Dear Lynne and family. Words will never fill a void but please accept my deepest regrets on your sudden loss. Muz was a great friend and mate back in the early 80's when we hunted the Northbank of the Wairau. He will always be that friend and mate into the future. His infectious smile I will always remember. Kindest regards, Graham McCarthy
