Had many a great time with Ian in our younger days after leaving school. Spent some great times with both parents at Whangarae Bay. Spent a lot of my time at his home in the Rai. Remember the day i spray painted the old truck green. He, Ian always rang me to see how I was and his first few words were, how's your knees. This phrase i will never forget. Rest in peace old mate.

It was lovely to see the mail boat - Rongatea. Brought back memories for me of it at the wharf in Okiwi Bay. I stayed with Ab Simpson - my grandfather.

I am so sad to have lost my lovely Cousin Ian, and my sympathy goes to you all. I will miss Ian's phone calls and his caring visits. So kind and so dependable. We shared an interest in our family history and spent many hours sharing
family stories from years ago.

So sorry to hear of Ian´s passing. Ian´s family were our neighbours in Rai Valley, and his older sister Jean used to babysit my sister and me.

TO HEWETSON'S FAMILY..Just read the paper what a shock..Ian was great friend to us but my brother Brian Rainey and Ian goes out fishing stay at his bach.oh the memories we have..But we lost Brian Dec 2022 .Ian we gonna miss ya and the stories you 2 had but our heart. Goes out to your family's. Deepest sympathy old mates together .from Rainey family .they play rugby work together..
