Ex NZ Forest Service and Department of Conservation. Dedicated caretaker of the early planting at Whakatū marae. Loved Father of Angus, husband of Cynthia, stepfather of Tony and Claire and grandfather of Moss. In true conservator fashion, Ian has donated his body to Otago medical school to aid research.

Remembering Ian as a fine boss while I was based in Murchison with DOC in the late 80s. He was inspiring and also a genuine gentleman. Thinking of you Cynthia, he was a good man. RIP Ian.
