Guy PETTITT Obituary

31.7.1939 – 18.7.2025

Much loved and deeply missed by his children Tom, Mark and Annie, grandchildren Jordan, Amber, Yared, Georgie, Charlie, Ruben and Isabella, and great-granddaughter Emilia. Guy was a kind and compassionate man, a dedicated family GP in Motueka for many years. He was also a pioneer in acupuncture practice and longtime student and teacher of esoteric wisdom. He leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, integrity, and care-respected mentor, trusted colleague, and loyal friend to many. His much loved pastimes included sailing, painting and for many years guitar playing. He received and gave great joy to us in all these ways which gives us some of our most cherished memories. A memorial gathering for family and close friends will be held in the coming months. Further details will be released by the family when arrangements have been confirmed.

As chaplain of Green Gables it has been a deep privilege to spend time in recent years with Guy. His generous heart and encouragement have been such a blessing to me.

Guy was a lovely man and a special part of my childhood. The Pettitt´s were family friends and Guy was always interested and warm. I remember him hypnotising me when I cut my head open with scissors sewing me up without any anaesthetic. My main memory of this is the jelly beans after. I remember having horsey rides on his knees and sitting on his shoulders. Sharing sore toes with him and feeling cared for in his company. Last time I visited him he spoke a lot about Annie, Mark and Tom and his grandchildren he was really proud of everyone. He also spoke about his wound treatment in great detail - ever the questioner. Lots of love to all the Pettitts xx
