Gillian CLAYTON Obituary

Of Wakefield. Passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, aged 65 years. It is with great sadness that we inform family and friends of the death of our beloved wife, mother, and sister. Gill passed away peacefully in Nelson Hospital with her loving husband, Shane, at her side. Daughter of the late Helen and Charlie Woollett of Westport, Gill was the loving mother of Jonathan and Asher Clayton, the adoring Nana of baby Ella, cherished friend of Ella's mother, Louise, and precious sister to Stuart and Grae Woollett. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart Kids NZ. A celebration of Gill and her life will be held at 1.00pm on July 12, at the Maitai Room, Rutherford Hotel, Nelson.

So sorry to hear this Shane. Thank you for letting us know. It was so lovely to catch up with you both earlier this year. Gill and I had our babies together and I´ve always thought she was one of the loveliest and most inspirational people I´ve had the pleasure of knowing. Our thoughts are with you and Jonathan.

Shane, Jono and whanau,
What a privilege it was to attend Gills farewell / celebration of life yesterday.
What a fine time you gave us all with your beautiful sharing of so much love for a woman who lived her life with such aroha.
I think I may have been the person present who knew Gill the longest (65 years).
We grew up together in Hector and I lived at the other end of the street that the Woollett homestead still stands.
My mother Helen Stack taught at Granity School with Gills mum Helen.
I have recently retired from teaching myself here in Whakatu so knew Helen in a variety of roles....I will always remember her tangi @ Wasbourn Gardens.
My sister attended Rangi Ruru with Gill and they shared that gruelling trip to and fro between Otautahi / Christchurch and Hector for school holidays.
I noticed I featured in a couple of those slideshow photos of Granity School pics....a wee bit of joy!
Kia kaha to you all as you navigate life in Gills absence.
Arohanui to you all.

Sending all of our love to you Shane and family. Gill inspired so many people with her determination and resilience. Growing up in Hector, we spent all our spare time together with friends during our primary school days. So lucky to have such special memories.
