George GOODSIR Obituary

Passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 peacefully at Ernest Rutherford Retirement Village, Stoke, Nelson, aged 95 years. Born in Kennington, a proud Southlander. Dearly loved husband of the late Patricia, cherished father of Helen and Anna and respected father-in-law of Graham. Adored Grandpa George of Matt and Abbey, Ella and Jordan, James, Anna. Dearly loved Uncle George to his many nieces and nephews. Special friend of the late Margaret.

Our sincere thanks to the entire staff of Ernest Rutherford who cared for George with love and kindness. A service to celebrate George's life will be held at Shone and Shirley Chapel, 164 Tahunanui Drive, Nelson, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 11.00am. Dear Helen, Anna & Family,

We watched the livestream of Uncle George´s service today. It was a very moving occasion and we know George would have very proud of his family´s tributes and stories. I knew a bit about George´s life but not a lot of his early years and the service filled in a lot of those gaps.

I have always had a very soft spot for George. He was always very kind to me and we interacted many times over the years. I will forever treasure the memories of staying with him in Invercargill, Inglewood and Gisborne and the numerous other times we met up.

Sending all our love on this very sad but special day for you all. Take care until we meet up again in the hopefully not too distant future.
