Not one nelson musician, but a traveller to riwaka, brought to my attention on the 2nd jan 2020, of the passing of Errol Goodall,on the 4th DEc, a sincere and awsome man. Amongst his many talents, he made his drumming skills available to my son Lyall many years ago. Ive had the pleasure over some years of playing music with Errol and just hangin out on Nelson visits. He will be sorely missed by so many. he was a true gentleman in my eyes. RIP Errol, we will meet again.

I was very saddened and shocked to hear of Erol`s sudden passing and my thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I dont think you would know me but I came to know Herb when I played with him in bands while I was teaching at Greymouth High School 1966 to 1968.We had some great times together- discussingRugby, stopping at Merv`s milk bar every Saturday night to pick up a "packet of Fags" to get us through the night at the Safari Lounge.and playng "indoor cricket" with the other band members on the lounge floor when we were supposed to be practicing new songs. One thing that amazed me about Herb was that he asked me one day in 1966 what did I teach at school and I replied jokingly, things about the history of voting in England -for example, who.passed the first Reform Act. I told him the answer.Forty years later I asked him the same question.Herb replied without hesitation, "Earl Grey, 1832!!! Amazing? These are just some of the memories of fun and friendship that I will always treasure about Herb. My thoughts will be with you on Saturday.
