I am so devastated to hear that beautiful Merin has passed away. She was a wonderful friend, so supportive, insightful, and a much loved teacher at Rai Valley. The little children that she taught used to follow along behind her just like little ducklings. She was amazing teaching art, and putting on productions with the children. She had a wonderful smile and laugh, and I was so fortunate to be at some of the get together with Bob and Merin. Always enjoyed them and it was delightful to see their closeness as a couple. Bob would enthuse that this beautiful little girl chose him to marry. She adored her family, and would proudly tell us about them.
Till we meet again Dear Merin

Merlin was a delightful carpool companion for over 7 years. It was a privilege to teach with this gifted and creative lady who also had a wonderful sense of humour. RIP, Merin. Thank you for the lasting memories. Your loss will be sorely felt. Much love and sympathy to all your family.

I'm so sad to read of Merin's passing.
My sincere condolences to her family - I know you'll miss Merin terribly.
I first met Merin at Tahunanui School in 1975 - I was a new 1st year teacher, and Merin took me under her wing. She was so kind, and positive with a bubbly personality. A marvellous teacher!Sometimes after school, she'd drive me back to my Nelson flat, in her little green sports car!
I believe that Merin was a truly wonderful person, who brought much happiness to all who met her.

I met Marin when Bob introduced her to his pupils at Auckland Point- " his Princess"
Musically gifted and like Bob a wonderful teacher , she was always interested in what you were up to when she saw you
Over the years. She enriched many lives. My condolences .
